Abstract

956,527. Spray carburetters. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES. May 29, 1962 [July 4, 1961], No. 20625/62. Heading FIB. In a multi-stage carburetter with a manually operated primary throttle valve 3, Fig. 1, and a secondary throttle valve 4 operated by a suction responsive device 12 through a resilient link 26, means controlled by the primary throttle 3 hold the secondary throttle 4 closed until the primary throttle is opened to a predetermined position. In Fig. 1 the secondary throttle 4 is operated by a diaphragm 12 actuated by suction from the carburetter Venturis 5, 6. A lever 22 loosely mounted on the primary spindle 8 is urged by a spring 24 against a stop 23 on a lever 16, fast on the secondary spindle 17, to hold the secondary throttle closed. When the primary throttle opens to a predetermined limit, a projection 35 on its operating lever moves lever 22 away from the stop 23, permitting the suction actuated diaphragm 12 to open the secondary throttle. In a modification, Fig. 3 the diaphragm is disconnected from the suction connection 15 by a valve 30 until the primary throttle valve is nearly opened, when a projection 28 on its operating lever 7 lifts valve 30 to transmit suction to the diaphragm to open the secondary throttle. A second projection 22a on lever 7 positively closes the secondary throttle 4 with the primary throttle 3.
