Abstract

706,985. Check valves. O'SHEI, W. E. May 29, 1952 [March 2, 1951], No. 5133/51. Class 135. [Also in Group XXVII] A self-opening valve 10 of flexible material, such as rubber, rexine or leather, has a dished portion provided with a slit 11 which is normally closed due to the resilient nature of the valve and is used for silencing the flow of air passing into a suction-operated windscreen-wiper motor, (see Group XXVII). The valve is held together with a metal washer 13 in an aperture 6 in a cover 7 of the motor and by peened-over portions 14 of the cover. In a modification, the valve has a slit 11 which remains permanently open but which is more fully opened by the flow of air.
