Abstract

685,565. Raising liquids by gaseous pressure. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. April 4, 1951 [April 29, 1950], No. 10596/50. Class 102 (ii). In a fuel supply system for forcing fuel from an auxiliary tank 1 to the main tank, air under pressure is supplied to tank 1 through a pipe 9 having a fitting 7 including an inlet valve 13 and an exhaust valve 12 which connects the pipe to atmosphere; both valves are actuated electromagnetically. Normally valve 12 is open and valve 13 is closed and to empty the tank, a switch 23 is closed which closes valve 12 and opens valve 13. The tank 1 is fitted with a bellows 15, loaded by a spring 17 and fitted with a push rod 18. If the pressure in the tank rises above a predetermined valve, the rod 18 opens the switch 21 to cause the valve 13 to close. If the pressure in the tank increases above a higher predetermined value, an abutment 22 on switch 21 opens the switch 20 to cause valve 12 to open and connect the tank 1 to atmosphere.
