Abstract

1,225,952. Spray carburetters. GENERAL MOTORS CORP. Jan.16, 1969 [Jan.26, 1968], No.2618/69. Heading F1B. The fuel reservoir 30 of a carburetter has a pair of valves 44 and 52 controlling fuel flow from a fuel supply passage 62 to the reservoir, the valve 44 being controlled by a float 34 and the valve 52 by a device 56 responsive to the vacuum in a carburetter mixture passage. The device comprises a piston 66 carrying an abutment member 72 and biased by a spring 74, which is subject to the vacuum in a Venturi 14 in a primary mixture passage 10 and the vacuum between the air valve 18 and the mixture throttle valve 20 in a secondary mixture passage 12. The primary throttle valve 16 is connected by a linkage to the air valve 18 and the throttle valve 20 which open after the valve 16 has opened a predetermined amount. Fuel is supplied to the passage 62 by a pump.
