Abstract

1,113,586. Valves. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. 28 July, 1966 [16 Sept., 1965], No. 33876/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Divisions F1 and G3] In a carburetter, an auxiliary fuel jet 28, additional to the normally operative jet 22, is controlled by a valve 30 operated by a diaphragm 32 controlled by the flow through one outlet 44 of a fluid amplifier 40. The amplifier 40 is supplied with compressed air by a pump 38, the flow through inlet 40 being split by splitter 48 through outlets 44, 46, the amount flowing through outlet 44 being controlled by the suction at the Venturi throat 16 acting through passage 50. At low airflow through Venturi 16, the flow through passage 44 is small and spring 34 opens valve 30 to enrich the fuel-air mixture. At higher airflows, the greater Venturi suction diverts more of the amplifier air through outlet 44 whereby valve 30 is closed.
