Abstract
1,143,300. Spray carburetters. BENDIX CORP. July 11, 1967 [Aug.5, 1966], No.31832/67. Heading F1B. Fuel from a float chamber 60 passes through a metering valve 100, actuated from the throttle valve by a linkage, to a passage 88 in a streamlined bar 40 positioned downstream of the throttle valve and having spray orifices 90, 92, Fig.4. Idling fuel flows to passage 88 through passage (110) Fig. 5 (hot shown) by-passing the valve 100, the flow of fuel during over-running being cut-off by a valve 124. Aerating air is added to the fuel at idling through passage 116, Fig. 3, controlled by a passage (120) Fig. 6 (not shown) in the throttle valve spindle 32. During normal part throttle running, suction operated valve 134 opens to admit aerating air through passage 130 to passage 88; at wide open throttle, valve 134 closes to enrich the mixture. A throttle operated accelerating pump discharges through passage 182 and orifice 168, a valve 174 opening when the pump is inoper - ative to admit atmospheric air from passage 170 to prevent intake pipe suction affecting the acceleration pump.
