Abstract
1,224,610. Spray carburettors. SOC INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES. April 3, 1969 [April 8, 1968], No.17607/69. Heading F1B. In a carburettor having a principal feed circuit 6, 9, 8, Fig. 1, an idle circuit 17, 4 and a transfer circuit 19, 5, the idle circuit comprises at least one air inlet 22 and a fuel inlet 15 having respectively metering orifices 13, 11 and leading into a mixture channel 17 having an adjustable constriction 25, the mixture channel having a by-pass 28 which is opened automatically during periods of deceleration when the throttle member 3 is closed or almost closed. Idling: mixture is supplied exclusively via channel 17 in quantity regulated by screw 26 in orifice 25, when an electromagnet 44 is not energized an obturator 43 closes communication between a chamber 40 and the main mixture supply passage 1. The absence of a depression in chamber 40 allows a spring 42 to act on membrane 37 thereby seating obturator 39 in orifice 38 to close the by-pass 28. Deceleration: A known system 34 for counting the number of ignition breaks per unit time passes current through a conductor 35 when the engine speed is above a given limit to energize the electromagnet 44 thereby opening valve 43. The prevailing pressure in supply conduit 1 is transmitted to chamber 40 thereby raising membrane 37 to unseat obturator 39. The fuel/air mixture flowing through by-pass 28 is added to that flowing through orifice 25 and the total quantity that it is necessary to introduce during deceleration is determined by the pre-set screw 46. In another embodiment two carburetters are supplied by a common mixture channel (17), Fig.3 (not shown) supplied from fuel and air orifices (11a, 11b) (24a, 24b) which open into each Venturi throat (10a, 10b). In modifications the fuel for the idle and transfer circuits can be taken from chamber 6 upstream of orifice 9, the channels 17 and 19 can be connected to the conduit 1 downstream of throat 10 and orifice 13 can be omitted.
