Abstract

1,099,350. Spray carburetters. SOCIETE INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES, S.I.B.E. Oct. 7, 1966 [Oct. 25, 1965], No. 45002/66. Heading F1B. Fuel supply is reduced or cut-off during overrunning conditions while the engine speed is above a limit which is determined by a device 20 which counts the number of times per second that the contact breaker 14 breaks the ignition circuit. In Fig. 1 a normally open valve 18 in the idling passage 7 is closed during over-running by an electromagnet 21 the circuit of which includes a switch 28 closed when the throttle valve is closed and a relay 26 closed by the device 20 when the engine speed is above the predetermined value. In a modification Fig. 4 (not shown) the throttle actuated switch 28 is replaced by a diaphragm operated switch (30a) closed by the high intake pipe suction when the throttle valve is closed. In a constant suction type carburetter, Fig. 5 (not shown), the electromagnet 21 opens a valve (22) during over-running to transmit the suction downstream of throttle valve (2) to the space above piston (40), reducing the suction above the nozzle (46) and thereby reducing or cutting off the fuel flow.
