Abstract
1,221,881. 881. Spray carburetters; treating charge. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. May 29, 1968, No.25632/68. Heading F1B. An auxiliary fuel device supplies a fuel-air mixture to the intake manifold during over-running, the supply being controlled by a valve 18 opened when the intake manifold pressure is less than the pressure during idling. Fuel from a float chamber 11 is mixed with air entering at 14 and flows to a chamber 10 where further air is added through orifice 12. The outlet 26 of the device is connected to the intake manifold and the high suction during over-running operates a diaphragm 23 to open the normally closed valve 18 to permit the mixture in chamber 10 to flow to the manifold. The spring loading of the valve 18 is adjusted by screw 21.
