Abstract

1,182,882. Regulating. SEA BIRD (CLEAN AIR FUEL SYSTEMS) Ltd. Aug.30, 1968, No. 41456/ 68. Heading F1B. In a dual-fuel engine having a Venturi 9 in the air intake controlled by a throttle valve 10, the suction at the Venturi throat 9a is transmitted through pipe 14 to a device 4 to control the fuel injection pump control rod 2 and to a device 16 to control the supply of gaseous fuel. The gaseous fuel is supplied through pipe 15 to the throat of a mixing Venturi 15a in the engine air intake and the valve 16 controls an air bleed into the pipe 15 to thereby control the gaseous fuel supply. Device 16 comprises a suction actuated valve 23 controlling the admission of air entering through openings 25 into a pipe 17 leading to the pipe 15. Opening of throttle valve 10 increases the pressure at point 9a, whereby diaphragm 5 moves rod 2 to the left to increase the liquid fuel supply and valve 23 moves closer to seat 24a to throttle the air bleed and thereby increase the flow of gaseous fuel through pipe 15. In a modification valve 23 controls the gaseous fuel directly.
