Abstract

1311276 Regulating I.C. engine fuel supply JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 13 July 1970 [21 July 1969] 36546/69 Heading F1B The fuel metering unit 26 of the fuel injection system is controlled by a pressure signal from the intake passage 11 through the passages 14 and 15 when the throttle valve 13 is open and a pressure signal from the air potentiometer passage 17 through the passages 19 and 15 when the throttle valve is closed. The passage 17 includes a restricted portion 17a communicating with the atmosphere and communicates with the passage 11 via an adjustable restrictor 21. The passage 19 opens to the passage 17 through a restrictor 18 adjacent the step in the passage 17 and the pressure in the passage 19 has a value between atmospheric and the pressure in passage 11 below a predetermined air flow in the passage 11 and a value below the pressure in passage 11 when the predetermined air flow is exceeded. The valve 20 controlling communication between the passage 14 or 19 and the passage 15 is rotatable by a spindle 23, through a linkage to the throttle valve 13, to change the connections for a small opening of the throttle valve.
