Abstract
1433778 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 3 April 1973 [4 April 1972] 15784/73 Heading G3P [Also in Division F1] Exhaust gases flow from an internal combustion engine exhaust passage 40 to intake manifold passages 34 under the control of a valve 56 operated by vacuum. The valve diaphragm 66 is biased by a spring 77 to close the valve 56 and is subjected through a passage 74 to the vacuum in a chamber 96. The chamber 96 is connected through an orifice 104 and a passage 82 to the vacuum downstream of the carburetter throttle valve 26 and through a valve controlled opening 88 to the atmosphere. The valve 100 controlling the opening 88 is operated by a diaphragm 96 subject to the vacuum in passage 82 in chamber 94 and biased to close by a spring 102. Below a predetermined vacuum, e.g. in Hg, the valve 100 is closed and manifold vacuum acts on the diaphragm 66. Above the predetermined vacuum the valve 100 is open and the vacuum applied to the diaphragm 66 varies in inverse proportion to increases in manifold vacuum. The valve 56 is closed under engine idling and wide open throttle conditions.
