Abstract
1332813 Spray carburetters TECUMSEH PRODUCTS CO 18 Nov 1970 [26 May 1970] 54743/70 Heading F1B In a carburetter having only one flow control valve 122 in the induction passage 24, 26, 28 and a fuel supply tube 76 with its outlet 80 in the induction passage, the tube inlet 74 opens to a well 83 which is connected to the float chamber 84 by a metering passage 86. Well 83 extends above the fuel level 68 and below the tube inlet 74 and is connected above the fuel level to an air inlet passage 102, 104 facing the induction passage air inlet. The space 106 above the fuel level in the chamber 84 is connected by passages 108 and 114, Fig. 4, and a chamber 110 to a tube 116 having an opening 118 facing and adjacent the outlet (120) of the intake air filter 30 so that in operation the pressure in the space 106 is greater than that at the tube outlet 80. The fuel metering passage (86'), Figs. 7 to 10 (not shown), may be provided in the depending post 42 supporting the fuel bowl 40 and an air bleed orifice (202) may be provided in the tube 76 above the inlet 74 and below the fuel level 68. The throttle valve 122 may have an aperture (203), Fig. 10, (not shown) a notch, a chordal portion removed or a stop, to prevent engagement with the induction passage wall, to determine minimum induction passage area. A fuel filter may be provided between the bottom of the post 42 and bottom wall portion 48 of the fuel bowl 40. A valve 70 provides for float chamber emptying. The throttle valve 122 may be operated by an engine speed responsive governor and the Specification gives dimensions of the carburetter passages for use with engines operable in two different speed ranges.
