Abstract
1,151,365. Spray carburetters. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. June 24, 1966 [July 6, 1965], No.28537/66. Heading F1B. A fuel displacer 8 in the float chamber is lowered during normal running to maintain the normal fuel level N and is raised when the engine is stopped to lower the level to n below the aerating air orifices 20, Fig. 2 (not shown) so that fuel vapour can escape therethrough. In Fig.1 the displacer 8 is situated in a separate compartment 6 of the float chamber and is connected to an intake manifold suction actuated diaphragm 13 which is pulled down during normal running to lower the displacer 8. Alternatively the displacer may be actuated by a solenoid connected to the ignition circuit. An overflow tube 17 with an opening at the level n is closed during normal running by a valve 26 on the displacer 8. Tube 17 may lead directly back to the fuel tank 1 or, through a float valve 28, to the pump inlet pipe 2.
