Abstract
814,007. Injectors. GARRETT CORPORATION. April 11, 1956 [May 2, 1955], No. 11040/56. Class 71. [Also in Groups XXI and XXIX] A system for inflating a collapsible container 15 such as a life raft or escape slide comprises a compressed gas bottle 11, or control valve 14, a pressure regulator 13, and an injector 10 having a tubular body 17 and ports 18 controlled by check valves 20 whereby gas entering at 21 entrains additional air through the ports 18. The pressure regulator comprises a closure member 35 movable by a spring-loaded piston 32 between seats 28, 30 and urged by the spring 36 towards the seat 28 to cut off the flow from the inlet 26. When the valve 14 is opened gas under pressure depresses the closure member 35 and passes to the outlet 27 where it acts on the piston to move the closure member towards the seat 30 in response to increase of pressure. The lower side of the piston is vented to atmosphere at 38. When the bottle is substantially exhausted the closure member 35 engages the seat 28 but a small flow, sufficient to compensate for leakage &c. is maintained through a restriction 40.
