Abstract

742,117. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. HAMPEJS, K. Jan. 21, 1953 [Feb. 23, 1952], No. 1758/53. Class 135. A compressor by-pass unloading valve for maintaining the gas pressure in apparatus supplied thereby at a predetermined value comprises a casing 23 having an inlet 1 from the compressor, an outlet 2 controlled by a non-return valve 3 to a gas storage container and an atmospheric outlet 25 controlled by a pilot valve actuated, by-pass unloading valve 21. The valve 21 has a bore 7 in constant communication with the container through passages 4, 6 and a hollow piston 10 slidable with clearance in a chamber 16 in the casing 23. The piston 10 slidably mounts with clearance a pilot valve 9 engageable with oppositely facing seats 14, 26 and loaded by a spring 11 adjustable by the casing closure cap 24 which also limits the upward movement of the piston 10 and has a vent 20 to the atmosphere. When the pressure within the container is below that determined by the spring 11, the pilot valve 9 is seated on its lower seat 26, the chamber 16 then being open to atmosphere through the vent 20 and the valve 21 closed. On the pressure within the container rising above that determined by the spring 11, the pilot valve 9 is raised to its upper seat 14; the chamber 16 then communicates with the container whence the piston 10 is raised and the valve 21 opened.
