Abstract

973,192. Valves. TEDDINGTON AIRCRAFT CONTROLS Ltd. May 22, 1963 [May 23, 1962], No. 19853/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division G3] In a fluid pressure regulator e.g. for control of the air supply tapped from the compressor of an aircraft gas turbine engine, an on-off valve head is situated at the regulator inlet and operates independently of a pressure regulating valve head succeeding it. On-off control head 1 is moved to the open position by inlet pressure acting upon the head against spring 2 within a chamber 3 and is closed by the build-up of inlet fluid pressure therein via, filter 6 and restrictor 7, upon closure of solenoid operated valve 8. Pressure regulating valve head 10 consists of a ported sleeve 19 carried between a downstream cylindrical sleeve 12 and an upstream piston 14 which is slidable within a chamber 5 and 'biased to the open position by a spring 18 and a datum pressure acting within chamber 5 and supplied from the inlet through a filter 15 and restrictor 16 and controlled by a spring-loaded relief valve 17. The regulating valve head 10 and the valve head 1 are guided and sealed by carbon rings 11 and 20. Specification 885,821 is referred to.
