955,070. Solid fuel stoves. VROLING'S FABRIEKEN EN HANDLEMAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Feb. 23, 1962 [March 13, 1961], No. 7142/62. Heading F4W. A solid fuel stove has a horizontal grate 2 surmounted and surrounded by a firepot 1 and a fuel hopper 8 from which the fuel flows into the firepot in the form of a sloping bank of fuel 12. The firepot wall has openings 3 for primary air at its lower edge and further air openings 4 at a higher level located in the wall at the rear of the fuel bed. This section of the firepot wall has no lower combustion air openings 3 but is provided with a recess 13 which serves for the removal of ash and clinker &c. A projecting flange 6 is located immediately above the further air openings 4 and ribs 10 extend between the flange 6 and the firepot wall between the air openings 4. The combustion air supplied through the openings 4 maintains a combustion zone in the upper part of the fuel bank. The downwards movement of the ash from this zone is unobstructed by any part of the furnace installation. The firepot may be formed as a one-piece casting or may be in separable parts.
