Abstract

953,225. Two-part couplings; plug boards. WYNN DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. March 30, 1962 [April 14, 1961], No. 13553/61. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H4] A jack 5, for use with plugs 1 of the kind having a plurality of ferrule like contacts 2 to which are attached the cores 3 of a cable, comprises an insulating moulding with a series of holes 6 for the reception of plugs 1, each hole 6 containing a plurality of spring contacts 12 which project into the interior of holes 6 for engagement by contacts 2 on the inserted plug 1, each jack contact 12 projecting laterally from the moulding to provide a soldering attachment loop 15 for an electrical conductor 16. As shown, contacts 12 fit in holes 11, their ends 14 being splayed outward to retain them, the diameter of holes 11 being increased at one end to enable the contacts to be sprung into position therein. Jack 5 is mounted on a panel 10 by a circlip 9 in a recess 8 around an integral neck portion 7 bordering the mouth of each hole 6. A method of making the plug of nylon or similar mouldable insulating material is described. Specification 953,226 is referred to.
