Abstract

930,157. Supplying slurry for patching furnaces. HARBISON - WALKER REFRACTORIES CO. March 22, 1961 [Nov. 1, 1960], No. 10407/61. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XII] Apparatus for applying refractory patching material to a furnace comprises a tank 20 from which a patching slurry is forced through an outlet pipe 22 and a hose 23 by compressed air supplied by a pipe 30 under control of a valve 27, the consistency of the slurry being controlled by compressed air supplied by a pipe 32 under control of a valve 31 to the outlet pipe 22 and the slurry being supplied to the tank from a mixer by a conduit removable from a valve controlled filling opening in the tank so that the tank can be moved to the furnace requiring patching. The slurry in the tank may be mixed by compressed air from a pipe 32 by connecting this pipe to an inlet 34 in the pipe 22 below a valve 35 which is closed for this purpose. The slurry in the mixer may also be mixed by compressed air and is heated by steam. A sleeve 24 adjusts the distance of the end of the pipe 22 from the bottom of the tank.
