Abstract
<PICT:0799711/IV (b)/1> Apparatus for mixing oil and water and for applying the mixture, for example, to textile fibres, comprises a loading chamber 14 to which the liquids are supplied and from which they are discharged through a conduit 23 containing a pressure filter 24 to the mixing chamber 1 wherein the liquids are mixed by compressed air supplied through nozzles 3 at the bottom of the chamber 1. The mixture is discharged through a conduit 8 to one or more distributers 8a. The compressed air is supplied by a compressor 6 to a manifold 5 which has connections to the bottom of the chambers 1, 14 and to the top of the chamber 1. Valves are provided at the top of the chambers by means of which chamber 14 is brought to a higher pressure than chamber 1, causing the liquids to be passed from chamber 1 through the conduit 23 and filter 24 to chamber 14. The mixing chamber 14 is heated by a water heater either within the interior or through an outer jacket. As shown, the chamber has a hollow body 9 containing a resistance heater 10 and pipes for circulating water. The chamber 14 may also be heated. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 758,689 and 766,731.
