143,818. Caracristi, V. Z., and Muhlfeld, J. E. Feb. 24, 1919. Pulverulent - fuel burners.-Pulverulent fuel is fed to a furnace through burners each comprising a supply pipe 436 having a nozzle 437 which delivers steam, air or other suitable medium under pressure for inducing the supply of fuel. The pipe 436 extends through a conduit 424 open at its upper end to the atmosphere and terminating at its lower end in line with the delivery end of the pipe 436. Air is drawn by induction through the conduit 424 and mixed with the fuel. Additional air conduits 426, 427 and 428 surround the conduit 424, as shown in Fig. 3, and extend beyond the delivery end of the pipe 436. The supply of air to the conduits is controlled by valves 431, 434. The fuel and air are projected on to an inclined wall 416 at the bottom of the mixing- chamber 411 to which regulated supplies of air are also supplied through pipes 414.
