[Class 51 (i)] In a furnace having a fuel supply conduit such as 1 delivering fuel on to a water-cooled dome-shaped fuel distributing member 4 beneath which air is supplied by a pipe 5 and discharged through orifices 7 into the fuel bed 8, air is conducted from the space beneath the fuel distributor 4 through a pipe 12 and delivered above the fuel bed through a nozzle 15. The pipe 12 is welded at 16 to the water pipe 10 leading from the distributor for cooling purposes. The nozzle may be horse-shoe shape with perforated limbs embracing the fuel. delivery pipe 1.
