Abstract

Pulverulent-fuel furnaces; fuel, feeding. - The conduit c, Fig. 1, supplying a mixture of pulverulent fuel and air to the combustion chamber d is provided with a fuel iniet l beneath which is arranged a throttling device for the air supplied by the fan b consisting of an adjustable hinged valve o by which in conjunction with the chimney draught a partial vacuum is created between the fuel inlet and the combustion chamber, the effect of which is to cause the fuel and air mixture to enter the combustion chamber at a low velocity. A distributor q with helical vanes is arranged in the conduit c for producing a uniform mixture of fuel and air. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the fuel and air mixture is drawn into the combustion chamber solely by the chimney draught. The air supply is heated in the space f surrounding the combustion chamber and passes to the pipe c and also through pipes x to the upper and lower parts of the combustion chamber d.
