Abstract

928,759. Treating charge; spray carburetters. G. E. HAMILTON. Sept. 25, 1959 [June 25, 1958], No. 20323/58. Classes 7(2) and 7(3). Fuel trapping and automization means located (a) in the carburetter, (b) at the joint between the induction manifold and the cylinder block or head, and/or (c) as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, between a carburetter outlet 3 and an induction manifold 2, has a chamber 12 receiving fuel droplets thrown outwards as by the throttle valve 22 and provided with jet nozzles 10, 15 returning the fuel to the mixture stream. The chamber 12 is formed by a tube 9 brazed to a gasketed flange insert plate 8. The longer nozzles 10 pass through and support a further tube (or tubes) 13. Each nozzle outlet face 21 is inclined at from 60 degrees to 85 degrees to the tube axes and the nozzle is formed as shown in Fig. 3 except that the face 21 may be inclined to the nozzle axis. The nozzle outlet is not upstream of the nozzle inlet.
