Abstract

792,809. Fuel injection engines. KRUG, H. Jan. 3, 1955 [Jan. 11, 1954], No. 91/55. Class 7(3) The fuel is sprayed from a nozzle 10, Fig. 1,' directly on to the wall of a spherical or disc-shaped combustion chamber 4 in the cylinder head so as to form a thin film thereon which is vaporized by the air set into rotation in the chamber by a tangentially arranged transfer passage 8, the nozzle 10 being displaced from the inlet end of the passage 8 to such an extent that the fuel jet is not atomized by the jet of air emerging from the passage 8. The nozzle outlet may be arranged directly above the inlet 8 at a minimum distance e or it may be positioned to one side of the inlet 8 as shown in Fig. 2. Alternatively the nozzle 10 may inject the fuel in two jets which form films 13, 14, Fig. 4, directed on either side of the transfer passage inlet 8a. In a disc-shaped combustion chamber 20, Fig. 6. the fuel film may be formed on the cylindrical wall 20a to one side of the air inlet 16a or it may be formed on the flat end wall 20c. Specification 749,825 is referred to.
