Abstract

1,237,734. Fuel metering systems. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Sept. 19, 1968 [Sept. 20, 1967], No.44555/68. Heading FIB. A three dimensional cam 20 controlling a fuel metering member 9a in a fuel injection system is moved axially by a member 12, which is moved in accordance with air-flow in the intake manifold, and angularly by a member 21b connected to the throttle valve 3. The member 12 is subject in space 14 to the total inlet manifold pressure, i.e. dynamic plus static pressure, by a pipe 14a facing upstream and in space 15 to the static pressure transmitted through opening 15a so that the member moves in accordance with the dynamic pressure. The valve 3 may be arranged upstream or downstream of the member 12 and the fuel is supplied to a metering device 9 and fuel injector nozzle or nozzles in the manifold by a constant pressure pump 6. In Fig. 3 the air-flow responsive member 24 comprises a spring-loaded cylinder arranged coaxially of the manifold and sliding over a fenced tube 26. The total pressure acts on the face 24a whilst the static pressure acts through orifices 31 on the interior. The cam 36 is formed on the cylinder, which is rotated from the throttle valve 3 by lever 38 having a pin 38a engaging in an axial groove 37. In a modification the cam is rotatable on the cylinder 24.
