Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the discharge amount of hydrocarbon to be reduced, in a fuel injection valve provided with air mixing mechanism, by impinging discharged fuel from a jet port against air stream after the discharged fuel strikes upon a collision plate. CONSTITUTION:Discharged fuel from a jet port 26 strikes upon a collision plate 28 attached to the front end of a needle 20, and therefore forms a thin liquid film radially spreading for establishing a primary atomization. A plurality of air holes 30 are formed in a sleeve 24. Air from an air introduction pipe is transferred from the air ports 30 into a sleeve jet port 34 through an air passage 32 including an injection valve holder 22 and the sleeve 24, and then impinges against the fuel forming the liquid film at the collision plate 28 so that a secondary atomization of fuel is established. The mixture thus obtained is discharged to the outside of the fuel injection valve or into an air intake passage through the sleeve jet port 34.
