923,611. Exhaust silencers. F. H. KYFFIN. Aug. 5, 1960 [May 9, 1959; Oct. 20, 1959], Nos. 15995/59 and 35416/59. Class 7(2) An exhaust silencer comprises an outer casing 10 and an inner unit 20 comprising inlet and outlet pipes 22, 23, connected together by a perforated web 24. Plates 25, 26, connected to the tubes 22, 23, form chambers 27, 28, on opposite sides of the web 24. The gases; entering at 17, flow through tube 22 and apertures 29 therein into chamber 27, through apertures 31 into chamber 28, and through aperture 30 into tube 23. The tubes 22, 23, and plates 25, 26, may be provided with small perforations and the space around the unit 20 may be filled with a round absorbent. The tube 23 may pass through a round absorbent chamber 33 to the outlet 18.
