Abstract
916,151. Mechanical couplings for cables. LIGHT & POWER ACCESSORIES CO. Ltd., and LOTT, F. J. Feb. 8, 1961 [Feb. 9, 1960], No. 4513/60. Class 38 (1). A flameproof cable gland comprises a body part 1, containing cable clamping and sealing means, adapted to be coupled, without rotation, to an adaptor part 30 when this is connected to a partition. The body part 1 may have a sliding fit into the adaptor part 30, the two parts being coupled together by an external coupling-ring 32. A sealing compound can be poured into sealing chamber 2, while the cable clamping and sealing means may comprise, cable armour clamping cones 13 and 16, inner cable sheathing clamping member 19 and resilient neoprene sealing-ring 7. The split clamping member 19 may be conducting for earthing use with lead sheathing 22 or neoprene for use with P.V.C. sheathing, when it also forms an additional sealing-ring.
