Abstract

6431. Hall, R. F. Sept. 14. Cable terminals ; plug couplings.-The end of a cable to which a terminal is attached is provided with a ferrule c, which grips the insulation and is provided with an inturned flange c', which abuts against the end of the cable, and into which the terminal end screws. The terminal end, which may be an eye, fork, or plug, is provided with a screwed part a<2> to engage the flange c<1>, and with a pointed screwed end a<1> which screws into the cable. Fig. 5 shows the terminal applied to a socket for engaging the sparking-plug of an internal-combustion engine. The end piece a' is in the form of an eye internally screwed, over which is slipped the insulating-cap D. A screwed sleeve d' engaging the eye a<4>, holds the parts together and forms the socket with which the terminal plug E of the sparking-plug engages.
