876,621. Transverse-flow fans and pumps. FIRTH CLEVELAND Ltd. July 2, 1957 [Dec. 7, 1956 (3)], No. 1330/61. Divided out of 876,611. Drawings to Specification. Class 110 (1). The subject-matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that of Figs. 4, 5, 9-12, 20 and 22-25 of Specification 876,611, Fig. 1 of Specification 876,612 and Fig. 1 of Specification 876,615, but the claims are concerned with a transverse flow fan or pump comprising means to guide the whole throughput at least twice through the rotor blades, the blades being concave facing in the direction of rotation and having their outer edges leading their inner edges, the guide means including a guide body which extends the length of the rotor and cooperates with the rotor blades to stabilize an approximately cylindrical free vortex having a core which is eccentric to the rotor axis, the guide body providing or being adapted to provide a channel through which a closed circulation occurs.
