Abstract

PURPOSE: To gain high pump efficiency and suction performance, by forming a guide plate in such a manner that it gives a turning velocity component in the rotational direction of an impeller which is twisted with respect to the rotary shaft of the impeller.
CONSTITUTION: Impeller 1 is fitted to rotary shaft 2, and impeller inlet 4 is provided near the rotary shaft. On the other hand, suction casing 5 is provided with pump suction inlet 3 and guide plate. Water is drawn from pump suction inlet 3 and is guided by suction casing 5 and reaches impeller inlet 4. Suction casing 5 forms a volute type casing with its cross section area diminishing along the direction of flow "a," so that the flow at impeller inlet 4 may become a uniform flow with respect to the circumferential direction. To match with the condition of the flow, guide plate 6 is turned in the rotational direction, facing impeller inlet 4, instead of the axial direction. By this, a uniform suction flow is obtained over the entire region of impeller inlet 4.
