Abstract

The motor shaft extends inside the pump housing, and accommodates the hub (23) of the impeller, which comprises a plate (22) with blades (25) fixed to it, and one or more passages running through the hub (27). The bush of a sliding annular seal (34) fits in the end of the hub on the opposite side to the blades. At this end the plate has an annular protrusion (28) coaxial to the motor shaft (18) and enclosing the passage. The protrusion can be a straight hollow cylinder extending approximately to the level of the running face of the seal (29).
