Abstract

1392182 Securing hubs on shafts AIRSCREW HOWDEN Ltd 13 April 1972 [18 May 1971] 15680/71 Heading F2U A hub 10, e.g. of a fan rotor or a pulley, keyed or not to a shaft 12, is secured thereto or positioned axially thereon, by canting a collar 11, secured to or integral with one side of the hub, as by a screw 15, with or without an axial spacer, and urged axially towards, or, as shown, away from the hub at the diametrically opposite side, to grip the shaft at A, by a screw 14 tapped into the collar and bearing on the hub as shown, or passing through the collar and tapped into the hub. Where the collar is integral with the hub, Fig. 3 (not shown), it may be formed by a saw cut leaving a flexible neck at one side.
