Abstract

901,160. Shaft couplings. Q.V.F. Ltd., and RICHTER, W. A. Oct. 6, 1960 [Oct. 8, 1959], No. 34196/59. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXVI] A centrifugal pump has a glass impeller 31 integral with a tubular glass shaft 19 drivinglyconnected to a driving-shaft 15 by a resilient ring or rings compressed between the shafts. As shown in Fig. 1, rubber O-rings 22 are spacedapart by metal sleeves 23 and are forced into contact with the shafts by screwing a collar 25 into the shaft 15. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 the end of the glass shaft is flared outwardly at 44 and a rubber-bonded asbestos ring insert 45 is compressed thereon by a clamping-member 43 which is bolted to a flange 41 on the driving- shaft. A rubber disc 21 is interposed between the flange and the end of the glass shaft.
