Abstract

913,365. Universal joints. GELENKWELLENBAU G.m.b.H. July 14, 1959 [Sept. 2, 1958], No. 24124/59. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A centring means for a double Hooke's joint between shafts 1, 5 wherein a ball 2 on the shaft 1 engages a plastic socket 3 axially slidable in the other shaft 5, has a shear-stressed rubber spring 6 between an extension 8 of the socket 3 and the shaft 5. The rubber spring 6 may, as shown, be surrounded by a metal sleeve 7, and may be bonded to the extension 8 or mounted on an inner sleeve (Fig. 2, not shown) which is a push fit on the extension. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the rubber spring comprises two rubber rings with a metal sleeve therebetween.
