Abstract

1347616 Mounting pump impellers on shafts CLARKSON INDUSTRIES Inc 5 Oct 1972 [22 Oct 1971] 46033/72 Heading F2U On a shaft 16 (e.g. of steel) in a pump including a housing, is secured a centrifugal pump impeller 20 (e.g. of aluminium) in whose hub 20b is a circumferential internal channel 44 adjacent the shaft to relieve axial and bending stresses (e.g. due to differential thermal expansion). The impeller 20 may be one of three similar impellers (18), 20, (22), Fig. 1 (not shown) separated axially on the same shaft 16 by annular spacers 26, 28 and clamped axially by a nut (36) on the shaft against a further spacer (30) abutting a shoulder (32). The impellers may be keyed to the shaft.
