Abstract
876,169. Twist-tubes &c. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., ERNEST. May 30, 1960 [May 28, 1959], No. 18158/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 120 (2) False-twist apparatus for crimping yarns comprises rollers forming between them one or more wisps within which a cylindrical member is rotatably supported. Further rollers press the member into the wisp(s), one or more of the rollers is/are driven and yarn is guided through or around the member. The peripheries at least of the rollers are faced with material e.g. polyurethane, having a high coefficient of friction with respect to the material of the member. The member may comprise a radially extending twist-stop in an axial bore,. a bored sapphire head through which the yarn passes, or interconnected axial and radial bores at each end adapted to receive yarn and guide it along a path extending over the. outer face of: the member. The head or a collar secured to the member may be.engaged by a thrust surface e.g. a roller edge, to restrain the member against axial displacement. The shaft of the or each pressing roller may be urged by an adjustable spring towards the shaft: of the rollers defining the wisp(s). Specification 464,981 is referred to.
