Abstract

963,710. Spinning. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS Ltd. Aug. 24, 1962 [Sept. 14, 1961 ], No. 32964/61. Heading D1F. In the crimping of filamentary material 7 e.g. filaments or yarns, the material is forwarded to closely-spaced feed rolls 3 and 5 (both of which may be driven and which force the material into a stuffer-box crimper 1) by means of a roll 9 driven by peripheral contact with one roll 5. The material travels at least partly around the periphery of roll 9 and is gripped between rolls 5 and 9 so that it is positively forwarded at the same rate as it is subsequently forced into the crimper by rolls 3 and 5. The roll 9 has a peripheral surface of rubber and is held in contact with roll 5 by a spring 11.
