Abstract

876,018. Pipe joints. PARKINSON COWAN Ltd. Jan. 9, 1958 [Jan. 22, 1957], No. 2324/57. Class 99(1). In a joint for two coaxial pipes each having an inner conduit and a surrounding outer conduit, the connection for the inner conduits is effected through a resilient 0-ring 16, the construction being such that the joint between the walls of the inner conduits 13, 21 is effected before that between the external walls of the outer conduits 11, 19. As shown, the concentric pipe members 10, 11 constitute the inlet and outlet of a gas meter which is connected by a T-shaped adaptor 17 to a gas main. The pipe member 18 of the adaptor has a spigot 22 which passes through the 0-ring which is located in a groove 15 in the member 10 or in the member 18. Alternatively, the member 10 forms the spigot. A butt joint is formed between the member 11 and the member 19 of the adaptor with a gasket 23 therebetween, the members being secured by a nut 24.
