An electrically insulating coupling in a metal pipe-line in which a short insulating tube 1 joins the ends 5 of metal pipes is characterized in that each pipe end has a coupling sleeve 3 with a flared mouth secured, such as by a soldering or by a screwed connection, to the respective pipe end, a union nut 2 which is screwed to the sleeve and which has an inturned flange 2a at its outer end, and a ring 4 seated in a groove around the insulating tube such that when the nut is tightened the flange exerts a pressure against the ring and forces the insulating tube end into sealing contact with the sleeve. The ends of the insulating tube are rounded off. The inner surface of each nut flange is inclined, preferably at 45 degrees to form a camming surface to engage the metal ring 4.
