Abstract

1357412 Pipe couplings C I CHRISTOPHOROU 2 May 1972 [16 Feb 1971] 4776/71 Heading F2G A coupling, e.g. for an electric conduit, but which may be provided with a fluid-tight seal has a detachable sector 17, to allow engagement of the spigot end 16 in half socket 14, by transverse movement. To complete the screw thread 15, which may be tapered, sector 17 is positioned, on half socket 14, with tongue 18 in slot 19 and the nut 23 is screwed up to clamp the end of pipe 16. The coupling may be made of pressure die-cast zinc or brass. Instead of a single removable sector 17, two removable sectors of 120 degrees each may be provided. The split socket arrangement may form the connections on elbow and T-junctions.
