Abstract

The design is intended for use on electrical installations partic. for earthing. Modern couplings use disposable elastic seals but in this application there must be no risk of coupling failure. The clamp fits over the end of one pipe and the muff end of the other pipe. The clamping shell fits over a surface lining on the muff end and an external tape on the face of the muff coupling. The clamp halves are in three sections with flanges. There is a second surface lining on the pointed end of the pipe and this has a welded bead running at right angles to the pipe axis.
