Abstract
817,969. Pipe couplings. GORANSSEN, B. S. Dec. 19, 1957 [Dec. 19, 1956], No. 38634/56. Class 99(1). A tube part 1 has at least at one end a longitudinal and circumferential slit 4 defining a tongue 6 lying in a circumferential direction, and surrounding that part is a ring 8 through which is passed one or more clamping screws 5 adapted to press the tongue into pressure contact with a conduit 7 inserted into the part. As shown, the flexible conduit 7 has an external, helically wound armouring and is fitted within the socket 11 of the part 1. The screws 5 may be spaced apart axially or circumferentially, and the tongue 6 may be of a width to fit between adjacent turns of the armouring. The part 1 may be in the form of an elbow, tee or cross. In a modification, the screw 5, Fig. 4, is provided with a part 5a of reduced diameter, that part passing through a hole in the tongue and the pointed end thereof biting into the armouring of the tube.
