Abstract

870,643. Prizing tools. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Nov. 25, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 40001/59. Class 61. [Also in Group XXVI] A prizing tool 48 for distorting radially inwardly a slotted retaining band 36 which secures pins 28 connecting turbine or compressor blade roots to a rotor wheel rim 22, has a pair of dowels 50 engageable with any adjacent pair of holes 44 in the band so that when the tool is turned either way, one of the holes 42 in the band is moved temporarily into alignment with the holes 24, 26 in the blade root and wheel rim respectively. The pins 28 can then be inserted in the aligned holes 24, 26, 42 and the tool released. The edge of the hole 42 then engages a groove 56 in the pin 28. The band 36 is slotted at 38, 40 adjacent each pair of holes 42, 44 to permit its distortion.
