Abstract

739,870. Turbine and compressor blades. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A. April 7,1954, No. 10245/54. Class 110 (3). Turbine or compressor blades are mounted in serrated or dovetail-shaped slots 11, 12 which extend in a generally axial direction and are equally spaced around the periphery of the rotor. A continuous recess 2 is formed in one end face of the rotor and a recess 5 is formed at one end of the root of each blade, the recess in each blade root coinciding with the recess in the rotor face when the blades are mounted in the slots in the rotor. Endwise movement of the blades is prevented by means of locking plates 14, Fig. 4, fitted in the recesses in the blade roots and rotor disc. A blade is mounted in a slot 11, a locking plate 14 is engaged in the rotor recess 2 and moved circumferentially to engage the recess 5 in the blade root. The closing blade is shown in Fig. 6 its recess 18 being L-shaped not T-shaped as in the other blade roots. The final locking plate is entered and secured to the blade root by means of a screw 20 engaging a hole in the root of the last blade.
