Abstract

954,323. Turbine blades fixing. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. March 17,1962, No, 10324/62. Heading F1T. The blades for a fluid flow machine such as a turbine are attached to the rotor by sliding each blade into an axial slot in the rotor and retaining them axially by an assembly of plates mounted between two parallel annular grooves, the majority of plates having opposite edges engaging in the grooves, and in which the last plate to be added to the assembly is split so that its opposite edges are separable. Turbine blades 11 are retained axially by plates 16 engaging in grooves 17, 18 in the blade platform and rotor disc 10 respectively. When all the blades 11 but two and all the plates 16 but three have been fitted, plates 21 and pieces 24 having edges 25, 26 fitting in the gaps 22, 23 are assembled on the rotor 10. The last blades 11 are then fitted and split plates 27, 28 inserted in grooves 17, 18. Parts 24 are slid across to partially cover plates 21 and portions 27, 28 and finally locked against circumferential movement by locking piece 30 having tabs 31 engaging in holes 32 and a tab 33 projecting through slot 34 into a clearance hole 14 in the rotor 10.
