Abstract

730,536. Turbines and compressors. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Dec. 3, 1953 [Dec. 30, 1952], No. 33576/53. Class 110(3). In a compressor or turbine, blades are mounted in grooves in the rim of the rotor and each blade is secured by means of a pin which engages a bore formed in the rotor rim and a slot in the blade, the axes of the bore and the slot being inclined to each other so that the pin becomes bent upon insertion. The root portions 16 of the blades 10 are entered in circumferentially-spaced slots in the rotor disc 12, the rim being formed with bores 26 which meet slots 24 formed at the bottom of the blade roots. The axes of each bore 26 and slot 24 are inclined to each other so that the pin 28 becomes bent as shown upon insertion. The pin is of easily shearable material so that the blade can be driven out of the groove, thereby shearing the pin.
