Abstract

639,320. Turbine blading. HARRIS, F. R., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Oct. 22, 1948, No. 27542. [Class 110(iii)] A turbine rotor 1 has a blade groove with serrated side walls and the roots of the blades are inclined to the axial direction. The blade roots are put into the groove sidewise and turned into position. The space in which the last blade is turned is closed by a filling piece comprising two outer serrated parts 4 and a centre part 13. During insertion the ends of the screws 16 are flush with the bottom of the centre part, and all three parts can be inserted in the groove. The part 13 is then moved to a central position and forced outwards by the screws 16 so as to wedge the three parts together. The projecting parts of the screws are then sawn off.
